"Scoop: Scott Porter Is JLA's Superman!" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-01-02 02:03:51

It looks desire the dam is about to burst on the casting of Warner Bros. Justice unify of America movie. Its just unfortunate that it had to happen late at night on a weekend when Im full of forbid and in no mood to talk about which Hollywood actor will be abusing his crotch with tights next. Anyway heres the skinny. Tonight we got an email from a guy claiming to be in the experience with whats going on in the JLA camp. He asked to remain anonymous but he says he knows at least part of who is playing who. Normally Id just delete such an email out of hand after all were all sick of fake JLA rumors by now but some of what he said confirmed heretofore unknown production tidbits Id already heard from others and then about an hour after he sent the email to me another site posted a story confirming at least part of his casting rumor yet they be to have gotten their info from a completely different source since their direct enumerate doesnt include the real gem of the bunch Superman. So heres the deal. Our source says Warner Brothers is set to announce the completed JLA direct next week and Scott carry (thats him to your right) has been hired to compete Superman. If youve noticed Porter at all before now its probably as a regular on the TV series Friday Night Lights. He also had a fairly significant part in Music & Lyrics and hes just finished filming on go Racer as the brother of Racer X. Rex Racer. Hes 29 from Omaha Nebraska and about as all-American looking as a guy can get. I guess thats what you be in a Superman isnt it? Now can the guy act? Wait this is JLA. Who cares. Can the guy convincingly carry the Statue of Liberty over his continue? Thats all that matters. In addition to Porter our source says Common is now signed to play John Stewart/Green Lantern. Adam Brody has been added to the direct probably as The Flash. Teresa Palmer is on board but not as Wonder Woman. Other suggest shes playing the daughter of Batman villain Ras al Ghul. Talia Ghul. measure. Michael Gough may make an appearance as Alfred after being kicked out of the move by Michael Caine in Chris Nolans Begins movie. So thats the latest and we've been able to confirm a lot of it with several different methods. Maybe this time we undergo a JLA cast rumor which is reliable. Everyone seems to agree WB will alter an official announcement next week so we wont undergo long to wait for the final full cast enumerate. We still dont know whos landed major parts like Wonder Woman or The Martian Manhunter..

"Talks Resume In WGA Strike" posted by ~Ray

Most people myself included didnt give a rats ass about the Writers Guild of America strike for the first week or so. I dont watch late night television. Saturday Night Live or communicate shows. I evaluate the writers are probably as greedy as the producers so picking the working man in this contend is laughable. When the strike really hit home for me was looking at the upcoming schedule for The Office and seeing that repeats are starting next week! This thing is getting serious!Fortunately. Variety is reporting that after no discussions between the WGA and the producers since November 4th the assure talks will resume on November 26th. Starting earlier desire today will hinder wil Thanksgiving I presume and everyone wants to get them some turkey (or chicken nuggets in the case of all the fired grips and camera operators out there.)Without delving into the boring details and posturing the factor that likely brought the two sides back to the table was the producers willingness to displace a requirement that the strike be called off before negotiations could go away again. The same issues related to compensation for new media are comfort there. "Ask a Jedi: ColdFusion 8 and Ext" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-27 22:21:53

That's because you aren't supposed to - not really anyway. "Ext" is not an official part of ColdFusion 8 it is just how ColdFusion 8 does it's Ajax magic. Now what I just said isn't 100% true. If you look at your ColdFusion Reference (and I hope you have) you ordain see a whole divide on CF/JavaScript stuff called: Ajax JavaScript Functions Each of these functions will get you access to the underlying Ext objects used to drive the grids borders tabs and windows. On a related say - ColdFusion. channelise getTreeObject works the same way but gets a YUI object instead (from the Yahoo library). Technically you could label this "using Ext" but I don't think it is exactly fair to say you undergo Ext in CF 8. If I were building an Ajax site from adjoin and wanted to use other features of Ext. I would not rely on the libraries that ColdFusion ships and would instead download them enjoin from Ext instead. It is possible that in future version of ColdFusion. Adobe may switch to a completely new underlying Ajax library. (I doubt it - but...) Since EXT JS is part of CF 8 you have the favor of using a fairly heavyweight js framework on a ColdFusion 8 server without having to worry about any expensive license issues and a js framework being available using the cfajaximport tag assuming the place has access to the CFIDE/scripts folder. Check out some of the grid examples on extjs com. The usage examples on the extjs com site will also help you to understand how the extjs framework works. Just be prepaired to have a bit of a brain stand still when you look at the Ext JS label and then look at the auto-generated CFFORM/CFGRID label. The only bummer is that the version of Ext JS included in CF 8 is at 1.0 and version 2.0 is available. One of these days I'll have to try upgrading to 2.0 and seeing what breaks in the create ui's. At the time Adobe started using Ext as CF's Ajax library it was actually an extension for YUI hence why YUI is also included; it used to be called YUI-EXT. Jack then abstracted the API and wrote adapters for various libraries such as jQuery and Prototype. Later. EXT became a standalone library as come up allowing you to increase your existing ones or use it by itself. EXT 2.0 is a huge go and very different than the previous versions. So here's a suggestion. If you want the quick Ajax functionality for your sites writing very little JavaScript use CF8. ColdFusion has always allowed to rapid application development. However if you be to create verbally a desktop-like looking application and you don't know Flex then use EXT 2.0. HTH @RaySure using the latest library is the right thing to in most cases (bug fixes speed improvement) but if what you need is in the older library it's perfectly OK to use that library. The problem using the latest library in conjunction with cfform is that the new library isn't guaranteed to be completely compatible with existing cfform and cfajax tags if it hasn't been blessed by Adobe. Using both libraries is a pain since in most cases the last loaded overwrites unless you either rip through the library and fix/alter the scope.

"Mad Money Poster" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-17 18:10:14

Its been a bad year for female led films but Overture Films is hoping that by having three female leads theyll be able to buck the trend of non-male indifference that seems to be sweeping through the box office. So theyve given us the first poster for the other movie being released on 01-18-08. Mad Money. See it in high-res. Mad Money stars Diane Keaton. Queen Latifah and Katie Holmes in a suburban housewife heist movie. Having seen too many Oceans 11 movies the three devise a plan to smuggle soon-to-be-destroyed cash out of the Federal Reserve. "Blend Getting Started Tutorial / Introduction" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-09 20:23:53

Does anybody know a good resource for a Blend Getting Started tutorial? Once amalgamate 1 was released the Tutorial cerebrate of the accept check pointed to a basic introduction - however that seems to be no longer available on the official Blend website (the knowledge bear on). Can somebody provide a cerebrate to an overall introduction (the Blend user interface how to edit etc.)?Thanks! Does anybody know a good resource for a Blend Getting Started tutorial? Once amalgamate 1 was released the Tutorial cerebrate of the accept check pointed to a basic introduction - however that seems to be no longer available on the official Blend website (the knowledge center). Can somebody give a cerebrate to an overall introduction (the Blend user interface how to edit etc.)?Thanks! I thought there was a whole bunch of tutorial cram within the product itself. Anyway.... The best introductory tutorial I've seen was at ("Getting started with Expression Blend"). This is actually a free video cover (do by the stuff about needing to sign in and just click on the chapters) that runs for just under four hours. Just noticed they now have a new cover on the Beta preview - not sure if that one's remove as well though. Lynda com is definitely worth taking a subscription out on - they undergo a TON of stuff on their place for subscribers and most of it's far exceed than the embarrassingly weak Microsoft "elearning" stuff that is not only thin but ridiculously over-priced. Looks desire the usual Microsoft embrangle. Even the shipping retail product has a cerebrate that goes nowhere - takes you to a webcasts page which then shows you cram that's only about Expression Web. I'm kinda getting used to this now. Half-baked initiatives kicked off with a blaze of fanfare and air which then cease overnight as the original small team are disbanded and there's nobody around to maintain the links give updates etc. To be honest I'm amazed that Channel 9 has stuck around as desire as it has. This product was supposed to go away officially shipping approve in February this year. You can certainly request it from the usual suppliers today. The product having links to tutorials that aren't there (but were in early beta's) is just plain stupid. It also to my object means I've been sold something that's not fit for intend. Those who don't charge are just dumb for paying out good money for a product that's been rushed to market without following through on what's been promised and while I acquire we be in a world where nearly every wretched product is rushed to market way before it's ready and it's seen as bad manners to complain that the product doesn't do what it says it does on the tin (or in this case what it says on the "About" check) I for one am NOT going to just sit back and keep handing over money pretending that this is a perfectly acceptable situation. Those who don't complain can hardly act surprised when the next version of the product arrives in change surface worse shape!Mr. SillyHat.

"Project HUGE: Max Squat Is Watching Over Me" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-03 15:28:08

I have been concentrating on watching what I eat and dropping some weight lately. I got on the scale at the gym a few days ago and it construe 205 lbs.. I haven't been that light since College so things are going in the right direction. As I undergo discussed before purposely losing weight has been a hard task for me not only physically but. I am just gonna suck it up not worry about gaining muscle and aim for my goal which is to be able to feature a fitted desire sleeve shirt this winter tucked in without feeling totally self conscious. Not sure if I will get there (this year) but I got my fingers crossed. In order to back up me control what I eat which can be especially hard in the office where my impress keeps us supplied with pretzels and potato chips. I have gotten myself a Max sit X-Treme Figurine to watch over me: He sits comfortably on the top of my computer which in turn sits on my desk just to the left of me. He stares at me all day desire keeping me in analyse. Hopefully he can forbid me from being weak back up keep me on bring in. Max Squat: Oh Ok cool. I just thought you were comfort doing that whole "trying to not be so fat" thing. Max Squat: And I didn't think sleeping with your mom was gonna give me Gonorrhea. Max sit: There you go big man; that's what I wanted to hear. Just remember - losing weight isn't supposed to be easy. If it was easy everyone would do it. I just got him yesterday so I can't tell you if it's working just yet. I can tell you though that I'm already feeling a little more empowered. Inside the office is really where I need the back up. Outside of the office it's pretty easy to eat come up; I undergo no food in my apartment so there are no temptations there. And once I have to actually go out and find food it's easy enough to make the decision to get something healthy since I'm already going out of my way. Of course don't evaluate that I'm gonna starve myself; when I go out with friends. I get BBQ ribs or a burger with fries. I am a firm believer that you undergo to apply food (and is there anything better than BBQ ribs?!?!) - you just don't undergo to enjoy food all the time. Max Squat is gonna be my guardian angel - he's gonna yell at me when I eat the egest that I eat when I simply don't feel desire sitting at my desk any more. Man. I have to tell you that I was really embarrassed and self-conscious when they asked me to be the copy for that figurine but hearing that it's helping someone arrive their own fitness goals makes it all worth it. :-)

"WPF: Simulating data in design mode in Microsoft Expression Blend" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-17 16:36:56

[UPDATE: The link to the VS2008 project was broken. Sorry for that] I just I undergo been working on for a few days based on a technique developed over the measure few months. I got to say. I am really proud of the result. In and. I talked about my seek to display test data in Expression amalgamate. The goal behind this is to alter the graphics designers to bring home the bacon on the controls' look and feel directly in amalgamate and if possible directly in the element's context. Instead of working on "bits" (typically on stored in resources) the designer is able to see the prove of his work without starting the application! I eventually found a way with the help of IdentityMine's Jonathan Russ and I am now able to give evaluate data to our graphics designers allowing them to work in a very comfortable way. Making a UI element "blendable" (i e being able to edit that element in Microsoft Expression Blend) is very important if you want to alter a better workflow for the graphics designers. In complex user interfaces editing UI elements "in place" for example items in a ListView or a ComboBox can speed up the design by factors. I was sitting with IdentityMine's this week and showing him the technique I talk about in the bind. It was great to undergo him affirm what I thought: This should really alter our designers' life much easier. The bind is published on my website. It contains plenty of label samples and illustrations as well as a with the complete source label. If you would desire to get the samples in Visual Studio 2005 project change.

"2007 Fall TV Preview: Moonlight On CBS" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-09-28 15:41:26

Moonlight a new show on CBS centers on Mick St. John (Alex O'Louglin) a private investigator who is investigating vampire-style murders in Los Angeles. The twist? Mick is a vampire himself. Unlike other vampires however. Mick has devoted his (un)life to helping those in need. In addition to helping the living. Mick also crosses paths with Beth Turner (Sophia Myles) a woman who he saved years before. What will happen if the two go in like and Beth finds out what cut really is? A show about a vampire who falls for a mortal woman and works as a private investigator in LA? Doesnt that appear awfully familiar? It sounds like the exact exposit of a little show called Angel. In fact. Angel co-creator David Greenwalt was There is only one reason I would change surface consider giving up a Friday night out or an hours worth of TiVo memory: Jason Dohring. I became a fan of his measure year when I started watching Veronica Mars but did I change state a big enough fan to check this Angel rip-off? Hardly. Bottom line: Joss Whedon did it first and. Im willing to bet better. come up if we want to communicate about shows that appear a lot like previous shows then maybe we should go back further than Angel and take a be at Forever Night with Geraint Wyn Davies way approve in 1992! This was a story about a vampire who reformed his ways and became a detective in Toronto and cut for a mortal woman along the way. So I'm not so sure you can say Joss Whedon did it first... So don't get too much in a beat about do work ripping off Angel. After all as they say.. immitation is the sincerest form of flattery! Loretta hit the nail on the head! Although. Angel's premise was very similar to Forever ennoble's that's where the similarities ended. Angel seemed to be nothing more than a vehicle that capitalized on the success of Buffy. FK was a much exceed series. It did not cater to the obligatory WB/CW tweenie generation demographic it was direct with theatre trained thesps, and had adult themed episodes. It was witty polish and far more entertaining than the "pretty kids with problems cater Dracula" circumscribe of Angel. Buffy was a superior show but sometimes vampires werewolves demons et al. need to be kept as dark not lighthearted family go. I hope Moonlight takes us back to that. come up if Loretta hit the attach on the head then I think darkangle is driving it in!I too am looking send to do work bringing approve some of that vampire-esque feeling to my weekly television viewing. I'm gonna let it rest on it's own tho.. and decide for myself after the do.. based on what I saw from the latest promo.. it looks to be pretty good!
